Longtime teacher Pat Vest has announced her retirement from High Plains effective at the end of this school year. Ms. Vest, a native of Pleasanton graduated from Kearney State College in 1975 with an elementary education degree. She has since earned her Master's Degree in both El. Ed. and Math. She has spent her entire teaching career in Polk beginning in 1976 and has taught 2nd grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, elementary music, middle school math, high school computers and high school math. She says she will most miss the students and their unpredictability. Her future plans are unclear at this point, but she does plan on spending time with family, camping and relaxing.
